Ella Liang sets new junior women's 1000m time trial world record at TrackNats

Ella Liang has broken the junior women's 1000-metre time trial world record in a time of 1:10.421 at the 2025 AusCycling Track National Championships in Brisbane at Anna Meares Velodrome.

Liang eclipsed the 1:10.818 time set by Malaysia's Sawda Hasbullah last month in the final of the first junior women's 1000m time trial national championship held at TrackNats since the event replaced the 500m time trial at the start of the year.

The 17-year-old Balmoral Cycling Club member had the world record in her sights all week at TrackNats and was elated when the record breaking moment was realised.

Liang won the junior women's 1000m time trial national title in the process ahead of New South Wales pair Hayley Dell and Ebony Robinson.
